LB ANSWER TO THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS "THE DRY TECHNOLOGY"
After the symposium in Rio Claro (Brazil) organized in March during last Revestir edition, LB has held two otherimportant workshops in the month of May in India and China. These information activities and training areconsidered strategic by the group, in order to spread internationally, the innovations and advantages of LB technologies aimed at the ceramic world. After these moments of sharing, in this first part of the year, an assessment has been made strongly positive as for the great interest that LB dry technologies collect all over the world. Speaking of “dry technology” in LB means going back in time to 1999, when the company invented EASY COLOR, the dry technology to color the ceramic bodies continuously that changes forever the productive layout inthe ceramic industry and opens a new era in the technical porcelain tile sector. EASY COLOR SYSTEM is a patentLB that has allowed a drastic reduction of production costs, a perfect granule coloration and a greater flexibility in production, leading to a rapid success of this new technology in the world.
Since then, thanks to this innovation process, LB dramatically changed the layout of production to generate a series of advantages still appreciable today: a drastic space reduction, increase productivity, elimination of wastematerial, less energy consumption. There is another parameter in the evaluation of the efficiency of dry technologies, such as EASY COLOR, to be considered, and it is the ROI (Return on Investment). It is a kind of economic advantage that today, in particular, influence investment choices of the manufacturers. LB shows a ROIof less than 12 months for the production of glazed porcelain tile, and less than 8 months for the technical porcelain tile.
The other historic step in the name of LB philosophy “The DRY Technology” leads us to MIGRATECH, a revolution in the dry preparation of ceramic bodies. Forty years of technology research have given a major boost to the drygrinding system, traditionally made with pendular mills, leading to the design of more effective grinding systems,through the adoption of vertical roller mill MRV, which subsequently led to the innovative technology MIGRATECH.The most obvious benefits compared to wet milling are: a significant reduction in energy consumption, the elimination of the costs of deflocculating and additives, lower plant maintenance costs and reduced environmental impact (reduction of CO2 emissions and less water consumption).
As an example, the energy savings for the production of red-body single fired is on average of these values:-74% gas, -80% water, CO2 -74%, -53% of electric energy used. Also in this case it is interesting to underline an average ROI of 18 months.
