FONDOVALLE AND LB TOWARDS THE COMPASSO D’ORO 2020
The ADI Design Index 2019 event, which completes the Compasso d’Oro 2020 applications, took place in Milan last October 14th.
ADI (www.adi-design.org/homepage.html ), Association for Industrial Design, examined 970 applications among products, projects and services, and selected 378 applications that, together with the 178 applications recruited in 2018, had aspired for the XXVI Compasso d’Oro award, the most important recognition in the world of industrial design, which rewards and enhances the quality of Italian design. The selection includes the best of Italian know-how, showing the Made in Italy in all its nuances.
Among the selected products in the “Design of materials and technological systems” section emerges 20Pure by Ceramica Fondovalle (www.fondovalle.it), a technical porcelain slab, similar in appearance to stone, of 324×163 cm dimension and 2 cm thickness.
20Pure was created thanks to the Naturetech technology of LB company (www.lb-technology.it ), a reference point in the design and construction of plants for the production of mixtures and porcelain stoneware for the ceramic industry, able to create aesthetic effects on the product that replicate the uniqueness and exclusivity, typical of the original natural materials. Such effects – wood, marble, granite, natural stones – include the full body vein, particularly evident on thick slabs.
The technology results in the finishing of the slab’s edge, identical to the finishing of the surface, which allows its application on tops and countertops, without further processing, apart from cutting and drilling in order to fix washbasins or shelves.
The collaboration between Ceramica Fondovalle and LB aims to propose a full-fledged use of the ceramic product, thus admitting not only more traditional uses such as floor and wall coverings, but also advocating itself as a real furnishing element.
The 20Pure slabs had already played their part in the LB’s art piece “Il castello dorato” (“The golden castle”) at the courtyard of Milan State University on the occasion of the Fuorisalone 2018 event, realized in collaboration with the architect Francesco Lucchese.
