THE LB TECHNOLOGY FOR SCRAPS’ RECOVERY (DIFFERENT SIZES AND THICKNESSES)

The LB group, always attentive to the needs of its customers, has developed a new technology for the recovery of fired scraps (“chamotte”) designed to meet the demands of the ceramic companies, with the aim of reusing the product in the body preparation lines.

The Research and Development activities carried out at the LB technological center have made it possible to create a line for the treatment of scraps from ceramic production of all sizes, including large slabs.

The advantages of this new technology are the following:
– Use of a pre-crushing unit for the treatment of scraps from large formats (e.g. large slabs), increasingly present in today’s markets; the primary group allows the treatment of thicker tiles, over 30 mm, increasingly popular and also intended for the furniture market.
– A rolling system is used to obtain a constant particle size at the outlet (2÷3 mm max.), which allows the reuse of the product in the raw material preparation and dosing cycle.
– High performances. The process becomes more performing because it does not generate further scraps from the body grinding phase.
– Reduced maintenance cycles. Compared to the traditional systems currently in use, which require constant and frequent maintenance due to the great wear caused by these materials, the process with the LB technology allows interventions to be carried out at extended intervals, unlike lines using fast mills. This is made possible thanks to the anti-wear materials used in the pre-crushing and rolling units.

The commitment of the LB group, based on the research for innovative technologies, has led to the creation of a process that favours the efficiency of the plant, with an improvement in performances and, at the same time, with the use of a simple line that facilitates the management by the operators (see flow-sheet in the accompanying image).
All of this is made according to a circular economy logic that makes it possible to meet the economic and environmental sustainability objectives that the company has set for itself and for its customers.
